The Abstract Generation: Zhu Dequn, Lin Shouyu, Liu Guosong, Xiao Qin
“The Abstract Generation: Zhu Dequn, Lin Shouyu, Liu Guosong, Xiao Qin” is an exhibition of works by four internationally celebrated artists from Taiwan, who are known for their abstract styles. Most of the twenty masterpieces have been selected from the collection of the Asia Museum of Modern Art, while others have been borrowed from private collectors. Beginning their career in Taiwan in their youth, these four artists continued to develop their creativity on different paths. Their influence on young artists’ in pursuit of painting and art that reflect the eras, has been obvious. Although they have resided abroad for many years, their influence on modern painting and art in Taiwan has been far and wide.

“Creation of Image – A Permanent Exhibition of Modern Sculptures from the West” is one of the major exhibitions held to celebrate the opening of the Asia Museum of Modern Art. Masterpieces by Degas, Rodin, Henry Moore, Dali and Arman from the collection of Asia University are exhibited to show the context of modern art development.

For the first exhibition after its inauguration, the Asia Museum of Modern Art invited Professor Liao Renyi and Ms. Liu Bixu from Taipei National University of the Arts to organized the exhibition: “From Subversion of Reality to Creation of Reality: Contemporary Art in Post-Martial Law Taiwan” to show the diversity and freedom in contemporary art in post-martial law Taiwan through the works of twenty-two artists who have devoted themselves to creative art over the years.

The adoption of triangles as the building elements for the Asia Museum of Modern Art not only challenged the rarely seen and difficult triangular design but also had to meet the Osaka Standards, the highest in the world. The engineering work was an ordeal for the courage, will and tenacity of all the personnel involved and, in the end, the first Ando building in Taiwan was completed.
Spending a Night in the Art Museum – Experiencing the Charm of Ando and Exposed Concrete
Architect Nakamura Yoshifumi once said: “The best way to experience a building is to sleep in it for one night.” For the night before the grand opening of the Asia Museum of Modern Art, designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Tadao Ando, the museum organized a special activity (Su Bin) and invited the public to spend a night inside to witness the birth of the museum.
What is Architecture? Let the “Little Architect Dream” Tell you
The “Little Architect Dream” is a project to invite children to build their own miniature homes. Based on architectural concepts and drawings, three-dimensional models or digital images are presented for children to apply diverse mediums to construct their “little dream homes.”

After 6.5 years of waiting, the Asia Museum of Modern Art will be officially opened in late October. On the eve of the grand opening a series of preview activities, organized to correspond with the architectural style, will be launched in response to the anticipation of lovers of architecture, art and aesthetics.
